What is Debati?
Debati is an anonymous debate forum built for honest conversation and sharp arguments — without profile showboating, like-culture, or personal branding. Here it's not about who you are, but what you say and whether you can back it up.
You don't need an account to read or write. Just open a board, find a thread that interests you, and say what you think. The platform is divided into official boards — Politics, Society, Economy, Culture & Media and Technology — as well as community boards created by users.
Why anonymity?
Anonymity lowers the barrier to participate in topics where people normally hold back. That can be anything from society and politics to workplace dilemmas, mental health, relationships, or controversial opinions you'd rather not have tied to your offline identity.
When people don't fear judgement, social repercussions, or cancel-culture, there's a greater chance they'll say what they actually think. The debate becomes less about who — and more about what.
Examples of threads that fit well here:
- "I have an unpleasant boss — how do I set limits without losing my job?"
- "What is the best argument against my position — so I can test it?"
- "Am I the one being unreasonable, or is this actually a problem?"
- "What's the least popular opinion you hold — and why?"
The goal isn't chaos or shouting. The goal is a place that feels like the best of classic forums: threads, replies, depth — but with anonymity as a safeguard so more people dare to participate.
Anonymity in practice
Without an account you automatically appear as Anon-XXXX — a temporary name based on your browser. It's unique enough to follow a conversation but doesn't identify you personally. If you create an account, your chosen username is shown instead.
Beyond what you choose to share yourself, no personal profiles are stored. Discussion is judged on content and quality — not social signals.
Captcha and rate limits
Without an account
You must solve a captcha for every post. There's a 45-second cooldown between replies and 60 seconds between new threads.
Free account
For your first 10 posts you solve captcha as normal. After that you only need to solve it once per day — no matter how many posts you write that day. Cooldowns drop to 20 seconds between replies and 30 seconds between new threads. You can also create one community board.
Premium (€6.95/year)
No captcha at all. Up to 3 boards. Coloured text in your posts and threads.

Rules and moderation
Debati is built for free exchange of opinion. That means we tolerate sharp debate, contrarian views and humour — but not spam, harassment or illegal content. Violations lead to a ban.

Behind Debati
Debati is operated and developed by Garbæk IT — a Danish one-person business based in Midtjylland. There are no investors, no advertisements, and no data sold to third parties. All revenue from premium subscriptions goes directly to operating the platform and continued development.
1.5% of every payment also goes to CO₂ removal via Stripe Climate — a programme that invests in certified technologies for permanent removal of CO₂ from the atmosphere. It's a small contribution, but a deliberate one.
